FCT certified as a B Corporation, meeting strict social and environmental standards

Groundbreaking software company improving the lives of foster children commits to rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Lawrence, KS  – January 2, 2018 – Foster Care Technologies (FCT), provider of the world’s only scientific, data-driven software for improving placements of children in foster homes, today announced that it has officially become a Certified B Corporation.

B Corporations must pass an exhaustive assessment that reviews their commitment to improving communities, the natural environment and society through their businesses practices. FCT joins the rapidly growing movement of more than 2,300 Certified B Corporations from 121 industries, across 40 countries including companies like Patagonia, Warby Parker, and Ben & Jerry’s.

“Our company was founded for the purpose of improving the lives of foster children. It seemed only natural that we would extend that intention to improving our communities and the natural environment,” said FCT CEO Bryan Welch. “We’re very proud to be recognized as  B Corporation.”

“B Lab is thrilled to welcome Foster Care Technologies into the B Corp community of leaders,” said Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab, the nonprofit serving the global B Corp movement. “I worked for a foster care agency in NYC early in my career, and my wife has worked as a child advocate for twenty years, so I know from personal experience how big an impact Foster Care Technologies can make in the lives of children by making good placements quickly.”

B Corps voluntarily meet high standards for social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. As a B Corp, FCT will measure and manage the impact of its business on its workers, community and the environment with as much rigor as it manages and monitors its profits.

About Foster Care Technologies

Foster Care Technologies, LLC, improves the lives of American children in foster care by making placement procedures more efficient and humane. FCT’s software helps social workers find the best homes available for foster children by matching the child with the best possible foster home.

Backed by cutting-edge research and owned by two major non-profits, FCT has the preeminent product in the marketplace today with seven years worth of valuable data and a system for continual upgrades and enhancements that constitute significant competitive advantages.

The key variable in creating positive outcomes for foster children is finding the best foster home as quickly as possible. Until recently placements were largely determined by guesswork. FCT now provides a system supported by real-world data, which matches the child with a home best equipped to meet his or her particular needs.

FCT’s ECAP (“Every Child A Priority”) software package dramatically improves the stability of foster care and outcomes for children.

Three existing FCT clients representing 3,800 foster children have proven the product’s durability and efficiency through more than 23,000 placements made so far.
