Position Summary

The intern will perform dual roles for Oak Therapeutics: lab work and proposal writing. The ideal candidate will perform both roles, but applicants can apply for one or the other. This position will provide hands-on experience to a high-growth company. Applicants should be eager to make an impact by taking on tasks that are critical to company operations.

We create affordable medicines suited for pediatric and pre-natal care and change the way in which quality medicines are brought to people in need. We reformulate existing pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals using our proprietary drug delivery system, oral dissolvable strips, and distribute them where they’re needed most – regions where people die from diseases that have simple cures, such as diarrhea and malaria.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Lab Technician

  • Approximately 10 hours per week
  • Conduct experiments related to drug delivery formulations
  • Conduct analytical analysis of materials and products using HPLC and dissolution apparatus and others as directed.
  • Maintain comprehensive lab experiment and data records (lab notebook)
  • Perform quality lab practices and follow safety protocols

Grant + Proposal Writing

  • Approximately 10 hours per week
  • Assist investigators with preparations of grants and proposals, especially literature research and bibliography construction.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear messages for multiple audiences
  • Apply research and scientific background to write and edit high-quality proposals narratives, grant reports, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate student or upper level undergraduate student
  • Scientific background – Medicinal chemistry or drug formulation experience or coursework is a bonus
  • Dependable, organized, timely
  • Analytical mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Coordinates work with team and works efficiently in a quick-paced environment


  • $15 per hour as independent contractor
